Maintenance Mechanic I - SRC

Under the general supervision of the Manager, Plant Operations, performs a variety of duties in and around the Hospital complex. Performs repairs to and maintains machinery, systems and mechanical equipment. EEO/AA/Disability/Veteran Responsibilities • 1. Performs hospital coverage duties by maintaining building equipment & systems. • 1.1 Maintains building climate by adjusting thermostats, heat, ventilation or air conditioning systems for the comfort of patients, visitors and staff. • 2. Completes and returns all work orders and equipment maintenance records according to departmental guidelines and regulatory requirements. • 3. Assesses environment for safety hazards which could harm patients, visitors or hospital employees and reports them to appropriate supervisors. Qualifications EDUCATION   High school diploma, or preferably a graduate from a trade/vocational school or completion of other accredited mechanical electrical/electronics or plumbing instructional institution.   EXPERIENCE   A minimum of 3 years serving an apprenticeship under a mechanical/electrical/plumbing or related trade or 5 to 10 years working in a similar institutional or manufacturing type facility/setting.   LICENSURE   Preferrably a P-2, S-2 or D-2 State of Ct license   SPECIAL SKILLS   A very strong working knowledge of HVAC or mechanical or electrical or plumbing or metalworking and/or welding experience.   PHYSICAL DEMAND   Physical effort of lifting 50#'s, ladder work up to 20 feet, kneeing and exterior work is required.
