Overview Central Maine Healthcare (CMH), a member of Prime Healthcare Foundation, is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving approximately 400,000 residents across central, western, and midcoast Maine through a network of more than 40 primary and specialty care locations. To learn more, visit [link in the portal] Responsibilities The Graduate Medical Education (GME) Director of Behavioral Health serves as a core faculty member within the residency program and provides strategic leadership for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Behavioral Health curriculum. This position plays a vital role in supporting resident education, professional development, wellness, and resilience while ensuring alignment with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements and best practices. The GME Director of Behavioral Health collaborates closely with residency leadership, faculty, and interdisciplinary teams to provide behavioral health education, clinical supervision, consultation, assessment, and support services for medical residents. The successful candidate will be a passionate educator, mentor, and advocate for resident well-being, contributing to a culture of excellence, inclusion, and lifelong learning across the health system. Clinical practice opportunities may be available based on candidate interest and organizational needs. RESPONSIBILITIES: Behavioral Health Education & Curriculum Leadership • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive Behavioral Health curriculum for medical residents. • Maintain current knowledge of ACGME requirements, standards, and evolving educational best practices relevant to resident education and well-being. • Utilize evidence-based and learner-centered teaching methodologies to deliver engaging educational experiences. • Design and facilitate individual and group learning sessions focused on behavioral health topics, physician wellness, communication skills, professionalism, resilience, and related areas. • Develop innovative educational strategies that support resident development and program goals. • Continually assess curriculum effectiveness and recommend improvements to enhance educational outcomes. Faculty & Resident Development • Serve as a faculty member within the residency program. • Provide clinical supervision, mentoring, and consultation to medical residents. • Guide residents in patient interviewing techniques, communication skills, and professional development. • Conduct educational, behavioral, and personality assessments as appropriate. • Contribute to the creation and evaluation of individualized learning and development plans. • Support residents experiencing academic, professional, or personal challenges by providing recommendations and facilitating appropriate resources and interventions. • Actively participate in initiatives that promote resident wellness, engagement, resilience, and psychological safety. Program Collaboration & Leadership • Collaborate with Program Directors, faculty, hospital leadership, and GME staff to ensure coordinated and comprehensive resident support services. • Integrate behavioral health resources and services across hospital and residency programs to address identified educational and wellness needs. • Participate in residency program planning, accreditation preparation, program evaluation, and continuous quality improvement efforts. • Provide subject matter expertise on behavioral health and resident well-being initiatives. • Support institutional efforts related to resident recruitment, retention, satisfaction, and educational excellence. Clinical Practice (Optional) • Participate in clinical practice activities, when applicable, based on organizational needs and candidate qualifications. Qualifications EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING 1. Doctorate degree in Psychology. 2. Master’s degree – for behavioralist with GME experience. 1. Strong clinical and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population. 2. Experience in a GME program is preferred. 3. Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. 4.
