Job Summary: Supervises a team of facility engineers to provide preventative maintenance and repairs services for facility equipment (e.g., central plant operations, building management systems, safety systems). Plans and coordinates the team to respond to requests for repairs and troubleshooting of facilities equipment. Supervises the scheduled preventative maintenance to ensure the calendar carried out in accordance with regulatory requirements. Supervises team to ensure that facilities equipment passes safety checks and inspections in accordance with safety control programs (e.g., infection control, Material Safety Data Sheets [MSDSs], chemical control, fire safety, Emergency Care Research Institute [ERCI] alerts, and The Joint Commission (TJC) related programs, and all local regulatory requirements). Utilizes the parts inventory in database management system to supervise work. Coordinates and dispatches outside resources to perform services out of scope for Facility Engineering team. Removes obstacles that impact performance; identifies and addresses improvement opportunities; guides performance and develops contingency plans accordingly; influences teams to execute in alignment with operational objectives. • Plans, coordinates, and supervises long-term equipment maintenance (e.g., central plant operations, building management systems, safety systems) by: managing responses to complex requests for service; coordinating teams and outside resources for complex repairs with long-term implications; assigning work to facility engineering team, and providing direction on day-to-day schedule. • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements for preventative maintenance by: providing direction and guidance on moderately complex safety and maintenance initiatives; monitoring and documenting the progress of teams performing preventative maintenance (PM), and ensuring that all PMs are completed in a timely manner; driving coordination efforts with outside resources as appropriate to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements; and ensuring resources are allocated correctly. • Employs new and updated facilities equipment (e.g., central plant operations, building management systems, safety systems) by: leading team on the installation of new equipment, updates to existing equipment, and user training on proper operation and potential hazardous or safety issues; providing guidance to and leading team to acquire operations and technical service manuals; creating long-term plans that account for installing and updating equipment, and proactively evaluating the need for new and updated equipment and providing recommendations; and documenting the unique IDs for devices, and creates a record in the database management system, and providing guidance to junior team members to do the same. • Promotes a safe environment by: planning, coordinating, and implementing individuals performing safety tasks, including inspecting safety of equipment and/or facilities; participating in safety control programs to build on advanced knowledge and collaborate with other professionals (e.g., infection control, Safety Data Sheets [SDSs], chemical control, fire safety, Emergency Care Research Institute [ERCI] alerts, and The Joint Commission (TJC) related programs, and other hospital-related regulatory agencies); and ensuring the team documents safety control programs and issues based on independent judgement of what should be documented, and revising processes as needed. • Contributes to vendor relationship management by: assessing current operational processes on an on-going basis while working with team to manage vendors, including vendor assessment and vendor performance analytics, to highlight trends and identify impactful process improvements that increase efficiency and effectiveness of vendor management; and identifying incremental process improvements that increase efficiency and effectiveness of vendor assessment, and driving the team to improve the efficiency of vendor maintenance /service and reduce reliance on vendors through education and training.
