 Join our PreOp/PACU team and play an important role in supporting patients throughout their surgical journey. This position cares for a diverse patient population ranging from outpatient procedures to higher-acuity and critical care surgical patients across 7 PreOp bays and 12 PACU bays. The Patient Care Technician will assist with transporting patients to and from PreOp, PACU, and inpatient rooms, obtain vital signs, help prepare patients for surgery (including gown changes, skin prep, and other procedures taught on the unit), assist nurses with patient care tasks, and provide calm, compassionate support to patients and their families. In PACU, responsibilities include helping patients settle comfortably after surgery, connecting monitors, providing comfort measures such as warm blankets and ice chips, and supporting unit cleanliness and stocking during downtime.
This role offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to surgical services and trauma care while working closely with a collaborative team. The schedule is ideal for nursing students or individuals interested in advancing their healthcare careers, offering valuable hands-on experience in a fast-paced procedural environment with opportunities for learning, patient interaction, and professional growth.
This position is a full-time Day shift working with 40 hours a week, Monday - Friday from 6:00 AM–2:30 PM.

Responsibilities:

 JOB SUMMARY
Provides patient related care tasks based on the principles of growth and development across the life span of patients served in his/her independent unit. Assists, observes, and reports patient changes to licensed caregiver and maintains accurate medical record documentation relative to the care delivered.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Provides and collaborates direct patient care services under the direct supervisor of a licensed caregiver. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to personal care, activities of daily living, vital signs, intake and output, ambulation, interventions, and implementation of selected portions of the patient care plan as directed under supervisor of nurse.
• Assists, observes and reports changes in patient condition to licensed caregiver and maintains accurate medical record documentation in relation to the care delivered.
• Addresses and/or directs questions or concerns from patients, families, caregivers, or health care team members.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
• High School Diploma or GED Required
EXPERIENCE
• Other Completion of Block 1 in Nursing OR Medical Assistant (MA) OR Nursing Assistant (NA) OR Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) OR Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) OR 6 months of experience in the healthcare setting within the last year Required
• 6 months in acute care experience. Preferred
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification Required
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Certification Preferred
• Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT) - License Emergency Medical Tech Preferred
