Job Objective:   Following standard operating procedures, the hook-cutting mechanic will perform troubleshooting diagnostic analysis, repair, and routine maintenance of the rotary-die tooling machine and hook-cutting tooling. Duties will also include setting up the hook-cutting and punch press machines.   The hook-cutting mechanic will maintain quality standards, keep a clean work area, and complete any necessary paperwork, data entry and perform other duties as assigned.   Essential Job Functions:  Commitment to Safety • Demonstrates a strong commitment to maintaining a safe work environment by adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines. • Promotes a culture of safety within the organization by leading by example and encouraging others to prioritize safety. • Promptly reports any safety incidents or near-misses to the appropriate personnel and contributes to the investigation process. • Active participation in safety-related programs and initiatives is required as necessary. This includes involvement in the safety committee on a rotating schedule, as well as participation in Risk Assessments, Exposure Hunts, department inspections, and change management activities. • Perform day-to-day maintenance on equipment and tools throughout the department. • Perform assigned PMs as scheduled.  • Assemble new equipment.  • Set up dies on the punch press and blades on the hook-cutting machines.  • Prepare dies for use in manufacturing and for shipment to the vendor for repair.  • Maintain the “maintenance” portion of the database.  • Order new dies as needed. • Place purchase requisitions. • Perform all related Oracle transactions.  • Perform all duties following company safety policies.   • Assist other staff in performance of duties.  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment • Full time presence required • Ability and willingness to be cross trained in any other functions as required or requested. • Excellent attendance required. • Ability to work overtime as required or requested including extended shifts and weekends. • Additional tasks as assigned.   What You Bring (Qualifications):  • Must have at least two years of experience in general maintenance, troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex production machinery and equipment including electrical and mechanical components, or a two-year trade school degree. • Optional certification obtained to operate power trucks and scissor lifts. • Ability to read and interpret dials, gauges, rulers, blueprints, schematics, equipment service manuals, and general instructions.  • Able to complete paperwork and data entry. • Ability to wear hearing protection. • Ability to maneuver rolls/boxes/tools in excess of  50 pounds. • High school diploma or GED. • Able to maintain or exceed work standards which will be reviewed at regular intervals. Work Environment & Schedule: • Onsite manufacturing environment with shift-based schedule. • Hands-on role with equipment operation and team collaboration.
