Oversees Teacher Assistants and ensure the highest quality early learning environment. Responsibilities: • Creates and maintains a healthy, safe, attractive and positive environment for children ensuring children are well supervised at all times. • Understands and complies with Department of Child, Youth and Family Services Standards. • Serves snacks and lunch according to USDA guidelines. • Assists children with diapering, hand washing, feeding, clean-up and any other needs they may have. • Responds productively to interruptions and changing conditions. • Provides weekly and monthly lesson plans including culturally appropriate programs and activities. • Consistently uses positive guidance techniques to help children learn and grow. • Cooperatively plans and implements learning programs with other staff members. Participates in ongoing training and regular staff meetings. • Establishes education program standards and integrated process for ongoing quality assurance. • Participates in the evaluation and ongoing assessment of children. Acts as a resource and consultant to help facilitate communication among service providers and coordinate family services to prevent duplication and to identify service gaps. • Maintains an appropriate level of responsibility for updating job-related knowledge and skills level including applicable Joint Commission and Department of Child, Youth and Family Services requirements. Requirements: • Completion of 30-Hour STARS Basic courses within 6 months of hire required. Child Abuse and Safe Sleep courses required within 6 months of hire. • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education required. Closely related Bachelor’s degree combined with 45 credits in Early Childhood Education may be accepted in lieu of degree. • 1 year of experience working with children required. Previous experience in an early learning environment preferred. • CPR/First Aid certification required. Washington State (DOH) Food Handler’s card required. Negative annual TB Test required. BBP/HIV training required. Able to successfully pass a Washington State Childcare Licensing background check required. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $23.91 - $34.40 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
